Off to the races!

It is official! After weeks of working on it, going sideways, backwards, rolling over and back, Micah finally figured out how to crawl forward! It was a very big day yesterday. Micah and I took a trip up to Colby to visit Dad and lo and behold, Micah discovered forward locomotion. I thought it might be Copley who would finally entice him to pick up those arms but on the contrary, it was a new pair of shoes we purchase for him last week. A boy after our own hearts. He saw the shoes on the other side of the room and went for them.

This morning we had a moment of distress when he temporarily forgot how to do it but after a nice long nap, he woke up ready to go. Something tells me we are going to be chasing after this little guy for oh, the next 18 years or so. Here we gooooo!

Watch me crawl!!!

Miniature Maestro

"Hey guys! Check out this song I just composed. It took me about 2 seconds to come up with it. Jealous? You should be. I could use a page turner though. Anyone?"

Food Fun with Auntie Robyn

"Robyn, you are doing such a neat job of feeding Micah."
Ha ha! There is no such thing as "neat" when it comes to feeding me!

Take that!

Look at my teeth! I will bite you with them now.

Prom Time!

'Tis Brynn's favorite season of the year - high school prom time! Hall-Dale (the local high school) knows how to celebrate in style. Evidently, it is tradition for seniors and parents to go down to the boat launch beforehand to take pictures. Luckily, we got an invite from our friend Paley! Obviously, Paley looked stunning and while Micah was not her official date, we like to think he has a special place in her heart.

Paley dropped by for a hair and make-up preview. Micah approved.

Paley's 'real' date. Micah was taking fashion notes - seersucker blazer and bow tie. Nice!

As you can see, Micah is now a champ at sitting! He can even move pretty gracefully from sitting to pre-crawling. And sometimes he just tips over. But, he never seems to bothered by either method. He is also getting so good at picking things up, moving things from one hand to the other and (clearly) bringing those (mostly inedible) things to his mouth. It is so amazing watching him explore his world!

Hmmm...how many of these matchbox cars can I fit in my mouth at one time?

This block tastes delicious. Almost as delicious as this car's tires.

Red...yellow....they are all so fascinating!

New Sounds...

Also known as "How loud can I be?" or "Copley is clearly my most favorite thing on this entire planet."

Grampie Time!

Micah (and his mom & dad) had a wonderful visit with Grampie, who flew all the way from the west coast to see how much his grandson has grown since those first few days at the hospital way back in September. Micah has been hitting major milestones lately and Grampie got to witness many firsts! He can now sit completely on his own (Micah...not Grampie). He is so incredibly close to crawling and manages to make his way all around the room in some scooting fashion; I am amazed at how much he moves! He just can't quite manage to go forward yet.

While introduction of new foods is still going marginally well (still loves those sweet potatoes and prunes beyond all others), Micah also got to experiment with a few pieces of 'real' oatmeal and a few bits of banana last week, which he picks up by pinching and navigates to his mouth with success about half of the time. He has also mastered (using the term loosely) his cup with a straw but really prefers drinking out of his Mom's big, blue water bottle (which also serves as a fabulous diversionary tactic when he starts to put the fuss on).

I think it's clear that someone is enjoying this meal

He's still rockin' those two solitary front teeth but I wouldn't be surprised if some others popped up soon. It is true, the development during these months is simply astounding! We can't wait to see what he'll do next.

A Sunday Swing

We are finally putting that backyard playground to work! It is so wonderful to have such a well-loved park right in our backyard. On weekends and after school it is typically full of playing children and romping dogs. Copley gets her play time and Micah gets his - and we get to enjoy the early spring sunshine. The swings are clearly a favorite already! (Actually, that's all he can really do so it's a good thing they are a hit)
